“Orten Galatas var väldigt liten och mysig men hade inget vidare utbud i några kategorier. Tips är istället att ta sig ner till de större områdena och Chania där allt man behöver finns. Busskommunikationen in till andra orter var väldigt bra från Galatas och bussen var billig så det kan jag verkligen tipsa om. Orten ligger högt upp för en backe vilket både medför härlig utsikt och ett bra träningspass för att ta sig hem gående från både mataffärer och restauranger.”

“Chania is only a 10 minutes drive away from the villa and is lovely to visit with the nice harbor, lots of restaurants and cosy shopping streets. The Golden Beach is 10 minutes away. We also drove to Falassarna beach, 50 minutes drive, beautiful beach and sunset. Small supermarket is closeby and Lidl is 10 minutes drive.”

“Chania is een druk en zeer gezellig stadje (in tegenstelling tot het toeristische Agia Marina met 5 km strand) met ontelbare restaurants.
Prima zandstrand nabij met ligbedden en parasols (eur 5-6 voor 2 stoelen en parasol), de mooiste zandstranden van Kreta bevinden zich op 45 - 90min. Samaria kloof ook niet te ver weg. Leuke tocht door o.a. kloof vlakbij gemaakt. Supermarkten op ca. 10 min rijden, 24 uurs winkels nog iets dichterbij.”

“Chania is erg leuk, mooi stadje waar je verschillende dingen kan doen! Vanuit het huis kun je binnen 15 minuten naar beneden lopen naar het strand. Om de hoek zit een leuk Grieks restaurantje wat heerlijk en gezellig is om te eten, vooral als je net aangekomen bent.
Alle locals zijn hartstikke vriendelijk en willen je vooruit helpen! Eten, taxi's uitgaansgelegenheden genoeg en betaalbaar!”

“The villa is on the edge of Galatas village and you feel more a part of a local community than being in a tourist area.
The nearest taverna is a minute's walk where the food and service are exceptional.
A few more minutes walk takes you to the central square where there is a pharmacy, bakery and local general store. All the shopkeepers are welcoming and helpful.
It is a 15 minute walk downhill to the beach and tourist area where there are plenty of bars, shops and restaurants.
Or, you can buy bus tickets in advance from the local general store and catch the hourly bus service which goes down to the beach and then on to Chania.”
